About Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur is an urbanized Industrial township (now a city) in the state of Jharkhand. It is a well-planned city which began its existence with the setting up of the steel giant - Tata Steel (erstwhile TISCO - the Tata Iron & Steel Company). It is also known as the Steel City, and the railway station at Jamshedpur is known as Tatanagar.

Jamshedpur is a beautiful and well managed city with good amenities for high quality living. In fact, it is one of the cleanest and greenest cities of India. It was declared the 7th cleanest city of India for the year 2010 in a survey carried out by the Government of India. It is also recognized as the 84th fastest growing city in the world during the period 2006-2010.

One of the better managed cities of India, Jamshedpur can easily boast of providing uninterrupted Power & Water supply, well maintained roads, well managed traffic, nice and green environment, good garbage disposal system, etc. to most parts. The city does not face issues of water logging during rains, it does not face the issue of power cuts during hot summer and heavy rains. These are some of the things which even people living in some of the Indian metros are deprived of.

Jamshedpur belongs to Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district. It has a population of about 15 lakhs and holds a place amongst some of the best cities in the country. Located in a hilly area, Jamshedpur sits on the Chota Nagpur plateau and is surrounded by the beautiful Dalma Hills.

Jamshedpur is an important industrial city in the eastern part of the country and hosts a good number of large medium and small scale industries and businesses. Several Tata companies operate out of Jamshedpur, creating numerous business opportunities for small and medium enterprise. These Tata companies include - Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Cummins, TRF, TAYO, Tinplate Company, Tube Company, to name a few.

Adjacent to the city of Jamshedpur, is the Adityapur Industrial Area, one of the biggest industrial areas in Eastern India. The Adityapur Industrial Area is located in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand just a few Kilometers away from the steel city of Jamshedpur. The Industrial area spans over an area of about 53 Square miles. It is spread over about 3500 Acres of land in a stretch of 8 km on the Southern part of the Tata - Chakradharpur state Highway. The entire Industrial Area of Adityapur is under the administrative control of the state government's independent body, viz. Adityapur Industrial Area Develpment Authority (known as AIADA).

The Industrial Area consists of around 1000 small, medium and large industrial units having an annual average production of about Rs.1500 crores. There are numerous residential complexes, a few markets, a few small scale hospitals and clinics, etc. within the Adityapur Industrial Area.

The product range manufactured in the Industrial Area fall in the following segments:

Engineering, Electronics, Electrical, Refractory & Ceramics, Plastics, Rubber & other Polymers, Reinforced Plastics, Computer & other stationary, Food Products, Glass Products, Steel, Packaging, etc.

The wealth gathered by Jamshedji Tata and his sons in half a century of industrial pioneering formed but a minute fraction of the amount by which they enriched the nation. The whole of that wealth is held in trust for the people and used exclusively for their benefit. The cycle is thus complete; what came from the people has gone back to the people many times over.
