Jamshedpur being an important industrial city with well developed infrastructure is well connected to the rest of India by Rail and Road. While direct air connectivity is poor, due to Kolkata & Ranchi being quite close by, the business community and personal travelers fly using the airports of these nearby cities.

Airport: Jamshedpur has a small airport where smaller size aircrafts can land. Air connectivity from the city is very poor. However, there are two main airports not very far from the city.

Nearest airport to Jamshedpur is Ranchi, which a domestic terminal at a distance of nearly 130 km. Ranchi is connected to Kolkata with regular flights. Private taxis and numerous bus services are available between Ranchi and Jamshedpur. By private taxi it takes 2-½ to 3 hours to reach Ranchi airport.
The second nearby airport is in Kolkata which has both domestic and international terminals. Due to poor road condition, the best way of traveling between Jamshedpur and Kolkata is by train. The train journey takes 4 - 5 hours. By road it takes 5-½ to 6 hours.
The Railway Station at Jamshedpur is known as Tatanagar and is well connected by Trains from Alleppy, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata (Howrah), Mumbai, Patna and Pune. Direct trains to Jamshedpur are available from many stations including Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Guwahati and Trivandrum.
State owned and private bus services are available from Jamshedpur connecting all nearby cities. Volvo/Mercedes bus services are available from Kolkata to Jamshedpur. Regular bus services are available from Jamshedpur to Ranchi, Patna, Hazaribag, Bhubaneshwar, and other important towns and cities of adjoining states.
