Jamshedpur - the Industrial City
a modern & cosmopolitan clean city...
Jamshedpur is the most important business and industrial city in the state of Jharkhand. The city was founded by the late Jamshedji Nusserwanji
Tata. Located in the East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand on the Chota Nagpur plateau, Jamshedpur is a well maintained city. It is bordered by
two rivers - namely, Subarnarekha and Kharkai and surrounded by the Dalma Hills.
Jamshedpur, as the burgeoning township was named in 1919 in tribute to Tata Steel's Founder, is India's first planned industrial city. It is a
model for the harmonious co-existence of industry and environment. Acres of vacant parks and gardens dot the city and provide bucolic sanctuaries
from the pressures of everyday life.
With quality power and water services made available to the residents and industrial units of Jamshedpur by JUSCO - a Tata Subsidiary, the city
is well equipped to provide modern infrastructure to business and industry. The city has a modern railway station and is well connected by rail
and road to all important towns and cities of India. It also has a small airport providing air connectivity to major business centres of India.
Several Tata companies operate out of Jamshedpur, creating numerous business opportunities for small and medium enterprise. These Tata companies
include - Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Cummins, TRF, TAYO, Tinplate Company, Tube Company, to name a few.
Adjacent to the city of Jamshedpur, is the Adityapur Industrial Area, one of the biggest industrial areas in Eastern India. The Adityapur
Industrial Area is located in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand just a few Kilometers away from the steel city of Jamshedpur. The
Industrial area spans over an area of about 53 Square miles. It is spread over about 3500 Acres of land in a stretch of 8 km on the Southern part
of the Tata - Chakradharpur state Highway. The entire Industrial Area of Adityapur is under the administrative control of the state government's
independent body, viz. Adityapur Industrial Area Develpment Authority (known as AIADA).
The Industrial Area consists of around 1000 small, medium and large industrial units having an annual average production of about Rs.1500
crores. There are numerous residential complexes, a few markets, a few small scale hospitals and clinics, etc. within the Adityapur Industrial
Area.
The product range manufactured in the Industrial Area fall in the following segments:
Engineering, Electronics, Electrical, Refractory & Ceramics, Plastics, Rubber & other Polymers, Reinforced Plastics, Computer & other
