Jamshedpur is the most important business and industrial city in the state of Jharkhand. The city was founded by the late Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata. Located in the East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand on the Chota Nagpur plateau, Jamshedpur is a well maintained city. It is bordered by two rivers - namely, Subarnarekha and Kharkai and surrounded by the Dalma Hills.

Jamshedpur, as the burgeoning township was named in 1919 in tribute to Tata Steel's Founder, is India's first planned industrial city. It is a model for the harmonious co-existence of industry and environment. Acres of vacant parks and gardens dot the city and provide bucolic sanctuaries from the pressures of everyday life.
